Paintings in the interior of the house: aesthetics along with practicality. Why do we need pictures if there is wallpaper? Exclusive from Iris Maschek What are paintings for?

Pictures in the house can significantly influence the achievement of the internal emotional balance of the owners.

Being an author's project, they can add an element of uniqueness, attractiveness and aesthetics to the interior. For any room in the inhabitants there is an opportunity to choose a suitable type of picture. And if you want to make the design truly original, you can try to decorate the walls, furniture or floor in an unusual way. For this, interior printing is suitable, the possibilities of which are quite diverse. Paintings or printed products, subject to their rational choice, will undoubtedly become an interior decoration.

Why do we need paintings in the interior?

The attributes of fine art are a reflection of the ideas of their author and truly talented types of work are able to give real pleasure. It is not in vain that people who know how to appreciate beauty spend fabulous sums to acquire exclusive masterpieces of recognized artists.

However, in addition to the aesthetic component, with the help of paintings, you can solve many practical problems in interior design. In particular, to achieve a visual expansion of the space or to make the room higher. And, if necessary, focus on the creation of a genius.

Characteristic nuances of choice

However, the wide variety of these pictorial attributes today suggests the need to take into account a number of the most important parameters when choosing them. Only in this case, the owners will be able to count on the fact that the corresponding picture will become a harmonious addition to the interior. Consider before buying:

  • Plot. It's great if it matches the purpose of a particular room. For example, portraits can perfectly fit into the bedroom; for the hallway, abstractions, collages, landscapes, graphic drawings or images of animals are suitable; in the kitchen, it is quite possible to choose still lifes or paintings depicting wildflowers; in turn, it is better to decorate the nursery with sunny and colorful landscapes or paintings with heroes of fairy tales.
  • Interior style. A well-chosen picture should be an adornment of a certain style in the interior. For minimalism or hi-tech, abstraction or collage would be a suitable solution, while a talented landscape would fit perfectly into a design with carved oak furniture, for example.
  • Colour. Here, too, the location of the visual delights will be of decisive importance. For example, it makes no sense to place dark paintings in a bedroom or corridor, because here they will be simply invisible in the twilight lighting typical for this type of room. For the bedroom, on the contrary, softer and more calm tones are suitable. In the child's room, it is better to use colorful, but not too bright pictures. But where you should definitely not deny yourself the pleasure of posting works with bright accent colors, it is in the kitchen.
  • The size. For large rooms, it is rational to choose one overall picture, while for narrow and small rooms, several small miniatures are better suited, which should be in harmony with the size of the room and furniture.

Paintings can add a special mood to the interior. Competently selected, they can become his real decoration. And if you approach the issue of their location from a practical point of view, then you can effectively solve the issue of a harmonious and comfortable arrangement of living quarters.

In the DO IT YOURSELF category, paintings by numbers stand out, which began to gain popularity more than 50 years ago in the United States, where this creative direction experienced a real boom. These paintings brought something new and unique to the world of painting.

Paintings that are fun at any age

Paintings by numbers are recommended for novice craftsmen or those people who are in search of a new hobby. They are presented in a large selection of subjects that may be of interest to children or adults who decide to try themselves in the direction of painting.

Paintings by numbers are designed for individual creativity, so each set includes:

  • a set of convenient brushes;
  • picture on the frame;
  • mount for hanging the finished picture;
  • numbered acrylic paints.

Using such a kit for drawing, you can feel like a real artist and gradually learn how to draw perfect lines, feel the subtlety of the combination of shades and reveal other useful skills. Such entertainment attracts many by the fact that it makes it possible to easily discover new abilities and display your fantasies on canvas.

If you want to create a real masterpiece with your own hands, then you need to stop at the choice of paintings by numbers. You will understand how full-fledged pleasure you can get from such creativity, but only after you independently draw a picture on the canvas. You don't have to mix and worry about the combination of colors - the picture maker took care of this, who numbered and assembled the set in the best possible way.

Paintings by numbers are as unique as ordinary paintings. Their only difference is that they are created according to someone's instructions, based on which a creative masterpiece is created. This art is available to everyone, therefore, it gradually interests more and more people. It doesn't matter for what reasons you are going to paint, but from this hobby you will fully enjoy the pleasure that will entail pride when you look at your creation.

Paintings by numbers can be created in a wide variety of formats, so if you are not confident in your abilities, then it is better to start with a small scale. It is quite simple to paint over with paints according to the instructions, but at the same time you need to feel the nature of the picture, to realize why these shades are selected and in such proportions. After writing such a canvas, you can gradually move on to independent sketches, and not even because to feel like an artist, but because in order to get the usual pleasure from the time spent.

The created painting by numbers is your masterpiece that you can use as you wish. You can give it to a friend or a child, you can simply hang it in the room or embellish your workplace. The first masterpiece may not be perfect, but it was chosen from the heart and painted with diligence, which means that it will radiate positive notes in any atmosphere and inspire for the best.

Art is an integral part of our life. Without aesthetic perception, our life will become not just gray, all goals and aspirations will lose their meaning.

High-spirited people surround themselves with objects of the highest art. The collection of Vishnevskaya - Rostropovich, like many aesthetes and collectors, was purchased at auctions.

Collecting is a very exciting experience. Ask how hearts beat in anticipation of a lot and a successful purchase. With what awe collectors and amateurs treat their collections. How irritable they can be if you can't make a purchase, and what kind of balm pours on your heart from the successful acquisition of a coveted picture. For true collectors, money doesn't matter if it's a truly great piece.

Contemporary art gives us the opportunity to see with our eyes the thrill of a real connoisseur, while contemplating our offspring. A masterpiece of cinema by Giuseppe Tornatore " Best offer"Perfectly testifies to the feeling of all-consuming love for the object of his passion. If you ask which item of the collection is more dear to the collector, it will offend him, like asking which of the children is more dear. Owning an art object is a pleasure and cannot be too expensive.

Why buy paintings?

We can say that they decorate the room. It means saying nothing. A person is always looking for something that he lacks. Man wants to satisfy the need, which is sealed with seven locks. Intuitively, he gravitates towards art, because he feels and internally knows that art is created at the moment of the merging of the soul with the sphere, which is several levels higher than that of everyday life. It's like a spectrum from infrared to ultrasonic. The energy of high frequencies remains invisible and non-verbal in the work itself, spreading in space and working like a perpetual motion machine, influencing the environment, regenerating and healing. The artist breathed life into the work by means of the inspiration of God and the object from now on itself breathes life.
Everyone is looking for happiness, but the taste of happiness is different for everyone. In fact, everyone is looking for God, this is happiness. Because God is present everywhere, the divine is present within a person. The taste dictates the choice of a work of art or ice cream. We gain taste by gaining experience of multimillion-dollar lives on earth, starting with the mineral, the vegetable kingdom, bypassing the animal world, being in the human body. As an embryo, a person goes through all stages of development, starting from the embryo bypassing nine months. Man is always on the Path. This path is difficult and thorny. For many lives, he begins to learn to walk and measure his whims with the possibilities. Receiving a toy, the baby calms down for a while, while there is interest and intrigue, then again, from a lack of vital energy, falls into melancholy. A person, like a baby, is looking for an elixir of vivacity and dreams of inventing a perpetuum mobile. A person knows within himself that he is worthy of happiness and seeks it with enthusiasm in his soul.

Why do people buy paintings?

Angel and ginger cat, author unknown. Because a painting is a portal to the higher worlds. The door, entering into which, you will be free and saved.
Man split the atom and received atomic energy. This is what he got outside. Now he must split the atom within himself, thereby gaining access to the higher worlds. To do this, he must calm and accept himself. Because the whole world is himself. The Great Master taught not to do something else that you do not want yourself. Because doing to another - doing to yourself.

Why does everyone buy paintings? Because the picture responds to the search that guides it. By calming your mind, you become a little wiser. Peace comes from the soul. Abundance flows from the fullness of feelings and knowledge of the truth.

Why are the tastes different? After all, everyone wants happiness. A thief, stealing, also thinks about happiness, about momentary happiness that can satisfy a need without worrying about time and space, that is, about the future and the interests of others.
Man invented the automaton. This ingenious invention was created by a highly organized mind. But the aborigines of the cannibal tribe can also shoot from it. And they do it great! But their mental abilities do not go far and do not bother them with worries about others.

Human genius created atomic energy, but it turned out to be matches in the hands of a child. The film "Brotherhood of the Bomb" tells how people with genius intellect and high spiritual development created an atom and with horror realized that humanity was not ready for such discoveries. Not understanding what they own, people will destroy themselves.

Why does a man need pictures?

This picture on the wall is very great benefit- she blocks the hole in the wallpaper!(Three from Prostokvashino)

Hey! I continue a series of articles based on viewing secondary housing for purchase on Avito. Viewing me at times was simply mesmerizing, this is a great cut of the typical idea of most compatriots about how a house should look like. I do not always agree with everything, so I wanted to express my view on typical mistakes in interior design. So far I managed to touch on the topic and. And today, hands have reached the paintings and photographs, or in other words, all that is called art in the English-speaking environment.

I want to clarify right away that the article is not about Feng Shui and other vastu-shastra, I absolutely do not understand anything about this, I will only talk about decoration in its usual sense. My opinion is that even if you adhere to the principles of spiritual practices, this does not exempt you from the basic principles of using paintings: size, height of placement, etc. The topic is really quite extensive, in a nutshell it will not work, there will be a megapost. So, I'll start in order.

First of all, it was striking that the residents of Izhevsk (I will remind for those who do not know that I live in this glorious city) alas, in general, very rarely have any images on the walls in their houses. I am sure that the situation is exactly the same in the whole country and we, residents of Izhevsk, do not stand out in any way. I remember once an acquaintance, sighing, said: "and that some pictures are required, right?" In general, of course not, but note that 90% of the designer interiors you like. they certainly have them, and this, by the way, is not accidental.

My selection of errors was collected only due to the fact that I was in no hurry with the purchase and watched for more than one month. In fact, there was nothing to save. I repeat, most of them have nothing on the walls at all, but if they suddenly came across, they immediately went to the piggy bank. I came across successful examples literally 2 times, although I shoveled several hundred apartments.

First, a little introduction.

What are paintings for?

What are the paintings on the walls for? And are they even needed? Most people far from design believe that they are hung just for beauty. In fact, there is nothing random in the design and they play a very specific function, improve the perception of the interior as a whole, and bring harmony to the space. The thing is that the human brain is designed in such a way that it constantly needs new information, it is always hungry. And large spaces of walls do not give him this information.

When we look at a large empty wall, our eyes begin to wander around it, looking for something to catch on (the brain requires information). There is a feeling that in a nutshell can be described as "something is missing." Usually these are several standard areas in the house: the space behind the sofa or bed, the walls of a long corridor, etc. It seems like you are looking, well, everything is there: a sofa, pillows, carpet, curtains, TV, a normal functional room, but the interior looks unfinished, something is missing.

When focal points, which are pictures, are added to such surfaces, the overall perception is noticeably improved. The place for them is chosen not just as it suits the soul, but with intent.

And the second important function is to bring individuality into the atmosphere. This is a very important condition, without which the result will look boring and hospitable. Somehow I came across the phrase, alas, I don't remember who the author is, that a good interior is an autobiography. It is with the help of paintings and photographs that you can show your interests, hobbies, taste ... It happens that designers (including me) try to leave the choice of paintings or posters for the client. It's too personal, too subjective. Only general guidelines are given on color palette, format, quantity, size, etc.

So, I repeat that when decorating, paintings are necessary and important and perform very specific functions:

  • are focal points;
  • bring in individuality.

As a result, it would seem nothing complicated, take what you like and hang it up where it is "boring and lacking in something." This is where the main mistakes await.

Errors when using paintings in the interior

Too small size

It seems to me that many people, unfortunately, do not even think about the size of what they plan to post on their wall. What seems so big in a store can be almost tiny in a real interior. Plus the price, of course, the larger formats are always more expensive.

Perhaps friends, acquaintances just give something, and it is simply placed on the wall without a second thought (well, what else to do with it?). By and large, a picture of any size can be correctly attached, only it is necessary to carefully correlate with the area of the wall, something may be above the sofa, but something is suitable only for a small partition.

Not right

In the next photo, I don't presume to judge the plot, it is not for everybody, but the size itself is already interesting. It would fit perfectly if the painting was horizontal. And in this form it is too narrow.

One of the good guidelines for choosing the right size is the size of the furniture. For example, the size of the sofa. Expect that the width of the picture along with the frame was not already half of it. Better yet, 2/3 the width.

The picture can be as one large, or several. In the latter case, it is necessary to connect with imaginary lines into one whole and evaluate the total area they occupy.

Right

To make it even clearer, I will draw the desired size on one of the photos. In this case, the correct size should be. Almost 4 times more. The owners can fix the situation by buying two or three more paintings of this series (I know that this manufacturer has more posters of this series) and go the following ways:

  • hang three horizontally in a row
  • hang four in two rows one above the other, going beyond the red square in height (more is better than less)

If you just hang two posters, the height will be insufficient.

It is always better to "try on" a purchase in advance, cut sheets of the required size from the newspaper and pin them on a needle.

From the last illustration with a red border, you yourself may notice the following error.

Wrong picture height

By and large, there can be two types of miss lurking here: too high or too low. But I only got the first ones. Apparently the lower limit is well defined intuitively.

To clearly remember at what height the picture is hung, it is enough to understand for whom it is generally intended. Naturally for people, which means that its center should be approximately at eye level. The average height of a person is 160-170 cm, we subtract 10 centimeters and we get 150-160 cm. This is the approximate height of the center of the picture.

Not right

Everything is too high.

Once again I will draw a frame of the necessary borders for clarity.

Right

And the third mistake that deserves attention is the wrong organization of the so-called. gallery wall, compositions from many paintings and posters.

Wrong gallery wall

This is one of the very beautiful decorating techniques, but if you do not know the basic rules, then you get a complete disgrace.

The main misses are as follows:

  • Incomprehensible love for chess. Either observe the geometry completely and place clearly in a row horizontally or vertically, in a square, etc., or completely randomly, but not in a checkerboard pattern. If the paintings are of the same size, then it is better to think over a geometric scheme with clear lines.
  • few paintings for a complete composition
  • too large a distance between the pictures (it follows from the previous one, as an attempt to get out and occupy the same area more). The distance should not in any way be equal to the width of the frames or even exceed it.

Not right

Right

In one of the articles, I already made a visual step-by-step scheme for organizing such a composition, it was about the design, the principle is exactly the same.

Ignoring the mat

And one more important nuance. For some reason, absolutely no one uses a mat, there is literally only one of the photos, and even then I have already posted it as an illustration above. It seems to me that many, alas, do not know at all what it is and what it is for.

I will quote from Wikipedia

Passepartout(fr. passe partout) - a piece of cardboard or paper with a rectangular, oval or round hole cut out in its middle for a frame, into which a photograph, drawing or engraving is inserted. This allows you to more freely select the size of the frame to fit the size of the image. In addition, explanatory signatures and the autograph of the person depicted are often placed on the mat.

It gives the painting "air" and improves its perception. Looks just like in an exhibition gallery. If your photographs are small, then you can take large frames and put the cards in a mat.

When I was completing the article, I thought that the dislike in the pictures could be just the fear of making all these same mistakes. Basically, no picture - no problem. Apparently, intuitively, many people understand that something is wrong with them in the surrounding interiors, but what exactly is not clear.

But now you know)))

P.S. And yes - the plot and style can be whatever you like, these are personal preferences.

If you have any questions - write!
